Step number five in Launching Your Online Course is your e-mail list. I despair again and how many people don't treat their e-mail lists seriously. It is the number one asset in your online business. The number one asset in your online business is people's names and email. But the great thing about having people's names in email is you've got it and it's almost like something you own and you control. That's why it's your number one asset as opposed to social media, which we'll talk about in the next lesson is something that you don't control, like the algorithms today, that the social media platforms are making it more and more difficult for us to be able to get our message out to the people that we wanted to get to. It should be any email list that could be small but engaged, because those are the people that value what you do. And those are the people that are going to buy from you when you've got something to offer. So really important to having engaged email list.
How do we start building this e-mail list? Well, there's a number of ways to do. You can set up an opt in page like what we talked in previous lesson and get people to put in their name and email in exchange for you giving them something of value for free. The final thing on email is that we have the ability to be able to track and measure everything now with analytics. It's really important that you do have a system in place with your e-mail list to be able to measure everything. People that are opening your e-mails, people that are receiving your e-mails, people that are responding to emails, being able to have that automatic ability in the system that you use is really, really important.
