How to Structure Your Online Course

I know how you feel, you've got four kids, you're in a one-bedroom flat in Chicago, you are homeschooling 24 hours, your partner is there, you're there, and you're doing all the family chores, and you can't even get to your work. What if you had a business where you could work from home, and you could do it in a couple of hours each day. And you should be able to deal with all these issues. So, my messaging changed, because I recognized people were going through these struggles, the last thing they had on my mind was having this time and financial freedom and, and a passive income and all of that.

 

So, your message is going to change over time. And you need to be aware, most importantly, of where your audience is. I don't know if you get this opportunity this evening, but look for every opportunity to not assume what you think your audience needs, ask them what is important when you address their core problems and their aspirations and desires. Don't put down what you think they need, ask them.

 

What are the main issues and challenges you’ve got, that are relative to this topic? And if I was to say I could wave a magic wand, what would be the aspiration that I can help you achieve. And I'll write this down for the next five minutes, you have got gold there, because the words they use is the language you'll put down and content in social media, a course that's going to have five modules. Because what we're going to do is strategically, we're going to give people a 30-day money back guarantee, which is what everybody does with online courses, because it reduces the risk. And people feel comfortable, then spending, knowing that there's an opportunity to get money back.

 

So, they're going to have a 30-day guarantee. That’s going to mean it's going to be in four weeks then the guarantee runs out. And what we're going to be a five-module dripped over five weeks course, so they won't get the last module if they opt for the guaranteed return refund. That's one big reason why we have a five-module course dripped out over five weeks, they got no experience online, they will be online in 12 weeks’ time, making money guaranteed. And people can see that they're going to go from overwhelm, not knowing where to start being online in 12 weeks, there's five big stepping stones they're going to hit. To get to that point, those are the five modules, each of those modules will have this kind of a framework. And my recommendation is that the course is done on video teaching, although you can do it on PowerPoint slides, if you want, the total of the course will be about two and a half hours. So that means each module will be 30 minutes long, 530 minutes is two and a half hours. So that immediately gives you the sense this cannot go too deep with the information.

 

Because with 30 minutes, you're not going to have that ability on a module, big stepping stone to go too deep. Each of the modules the 30 minutes will be broken down into three sections.

 

And they will be:

 

Number one, the context setting where does this module sit in the overall journey of the customer from A to B. So, it will be setting the scene, the context of this module.

 

The second one will be the tactics, which is the steps. This is the teaching of the particular module.

 

And then the third one is what I call “make it real”. So, it's making it real in the sense that people who are going through the training can feel they can accomplish this because either they're seeing case studies of other people, or they're getting tools and downloads that they can actually implement what you've been teaching them.

 

So that's the three parts to each of the modules.

 

And in each module, each of those particular steps that make up the 30 minutes. And this is a structure that I've been using for three years, and it works. And that's what all my students use. And it's what the audience, your audience wants because, whether it is just this one here, which is cheerleading people on is that people find it difficult, mainly because of self-motivation with a training course, online coaching, some of these helping you get there with a training program, which is an online course, they're having to do this on their own, but you can offer them the opportunity of having a high ticket online course where you get some coaching for it.
